So you need Traffic and you need it fast. Little or no money to spend on advertising? And not a clue where to start. Well you came to the right person. So no fluff here lets get to it...

The Basics :

First things first. Make sure your website,Blog, etc. is full of fresh, useful content. If your promoting affiliate sites that's all taken care of for you,but if it's your own personal site you need to make sure it's updated content, easy to navigate and informative. Search engines love content. Don't expect to have 1 or 2 posts on you blog and have the whole world flocking to read it.

The big 3 ( Google,Bing and Yahoo) will index a blog with 20 posts of useless junk over a blog with 3 life altering articles any day. So make sure you update your site as often as possible.

Second thing, Search engine optimization,or SEO,...I can ( and will) write a whole article about this one. SEO is the art of filling your site with keywords, phrases and links that allow people doing searches to find you.

A few quick and easy tips for SEO are

1- try to use your keyword in your domain name

2-Title tag on each page should be your keyword

3-your keyword should be in the first paragraph of your page

4-your image alt tags should contain your keyword

5-the file names of your page should also contain your keyword

This is just skimming the surface of SEO.

Ok. On with the free traffic.

Submit articles about your site/product to Article sites such as Ezinearticles

A quick Google search will bring up a huge list of sites that you can publish free articles at. The great thing about free article submissions is that in the info box at the bottom of the post you can include a little snippet about yourself and a link to your website.

Try Traffic exchanges for free traffic. The idea behind traffic exchanges is that you view other peoples websites for a few seconds to earn credits. These credits are then traded for views of your website. The good and bad of traffic exchanges is that Yes you can get a lot of hits to your website but targeted traffic it is not as most people are just viewing yours so they can earn credits so you will view theirs.

Blog comments are a great, easy way of getting free targeted traffic.

Use your favorite search engine to find blogs on your topic. Go through the blog entries and comment on the relevant ones. Make sure you include a link back to your site in your comment.

Link Exchanges work well too.

These are kind of like Traffic exchanges but more targeted to your niche. The idea here is that you put a link on your site to theirs in exchange for a link on theirs back to yours. The down side to this is you have to be careful who you link to. Google will penalize you if you have links to "Bad Neighborhoods" on your site.

I'm going to wrap this up with a fantastic free traffic resource...are ya ready? ok....

YOUTUBE!...Video marketing is the best free way to get traffic...dont believe me? go to Youtube right now and do a search for...I dont know....Boy flicks booger...I'll bet that video( I'm sure their is one) has been viewed at least ten thousand times.

A quick video about your product will get hundreds of targeted views in a short period of time. Don't worry if you don't want to be IN the video .There are many video production programs that will allow you to make a short video ( with a link to your site) in just a few minutes without you having to do more than click the mouse. Contact me if you want more information on these programs.

Well I hope these ideas helped. If you have any questions on any of these topics please feel free tocontact me.

Oh and sorry this was such an elementary article...I just thought it would be easier to understand for the newbie....

Thanx for reading

Not sure how this happened but I just got slapped by Hubpages for being overly promotional and having duplicate content.

My wife just sat here and watched me type this whole thing without reference to any other article or content.
